Last Christmas, I wrapped up a Ukiyo-e whale shirt for my best friend. He was a history teacher, and when he saw the design, his eyes lit up. The fact that a shirt could spark a conversation about Japanese art and even Van Gogh was amazing. It became more than a gift—it became a shared memory.
