Collector's Closet: Leslie Oliver

Collector Leslie Oliver has been a sculptor and filmmaker for many decades. He enjoys how art helps (to) celebrate and make sense of lives. While passionate about both art forms, he’s the most passionate about teaching. Having taught thousands of students globally, mainly filmmaking, he’s driven by what he gains from them—their energy, curiosity, passion, trust, and unique stories. When seeking a shirt to complement his dear bride’s floral wedding dress, he discovered Yiume, a brand fulfilling his shirt needs. Wearing a Yiume shirt for his wedding, it was truly wonderful and perfect!

Yiume's Australian Wildflower Magic

I particularly liked Yiume's Australian Wild Flowers, and it would be a nice touch for an Australian wedding. I would also need some warm clothes in Oz, and I liked the look of the zipper top and the dark green hoodie. I have never owned a hoodie, and Yiume's collection made me feel adventurous. The clothes arrived quickly with prompt delivery updates. The packing and presentation were smart, and the fabric, designs, colours, and quality of the making were stunning. I decided I needed more of this magic to be a part of my new married life. Feel special, look special.

What's your favorite shirt in your collection, and why?

It's hard to pick a favourite as they feel so distinctly different, suiting different moods and occasions. I love my hoodie, so cosy, and it makes me feel young ha! ha! However, my Australian Wild Flowers will always carry a special electric charge, as the shirt carried me across the line from single to married. There are still a couple of shits in my suitcase that I'm holding off wearing for … Another Special Occasion.

Any memorable career moments you'd like to share?

In 2022, I was incredibly privileged to spend three months in Bhutan with my fiancée, now wife, teaching film production to a remarkable group of young people. Their dedication, originality, and generosity continue to inspire me. They mastered the skills in three months and created a festival of 26 beautiful films.
